Embroidery Recipe Book Resources

The Embroidery Recipe: How Your Ingredients Affect Your Results was originally released as a PDF downloadable e-book and as such, is filled with active hyperlinks to extra information or mentioned products. Obviously, once you print the book, those links are no longer accessible. Also, it's possible for websites to change, move, or vanish. The same with products. This page is an attempt to keep the book current.

This page is not a substitute for the book; you won't find all the incredible content I cover in extensive detail here.

What you will find are external links to related blog posts, videos, and products. Embroiderers are always asking me what I use and where to get it. The book will tell you which ones of these I do use and this list will tell you where to get them.

Most Recent Updates

To get the latest update, you must download from the website where you purchased the book. If you didn't purchase it from this website, I don't know about it.

  • 6/6/2018 Corrected duplicate footers in the table of contents section, corrected body text for the link to Echidna's website (the actual link is correct), and edited a caption on a sidebar image.
  • 6/4/2016 Corrected punctuation, compound words, and other niggly things Grammarly complained about.  A "permission statement" to a allow a copy to be printed for personal use was added on page i for those who wanted their PDF printed by an outside printer.

A Few Quick FAQs

—About the Print Version of this Book

We're currently looking into a print-on-demand option for this book. At this time it is only being done in Australia by Echidna Sewing Products. The print version has all the links removed and is a higher resolution than the downloadable digital version, which is optimized for quicker download times. Otherwise the content is exactly the same.

Obviously printing involves a considerable up front expense so I'm not sure when we'll have it available here.

This page is designed to give the print version quick access to all the linked products listed in the digital version (a distinct advantage for digital readers!)

—Why isn't the book available in ePub (Kindle) version?

This book is richly illustrated with full color photos and screen captures. The formatting is designed for 8.5 x 11 standard U.S.letter size pages and most pages are laid out 2-column.

I have a Kindle PaperWhite that I'm highly fond of but I can tell you books with images just don't work well on it. They do look great on my computer Kindle app and on my full size iPad.

Therefore, because the reading experience would be less than desirable across all devices, I've opted to leave it as a PDF only version. If your reading app allows you to import PDFs, please feel free to give it a try.

—Why isn't this book available in the Kindle app store?

In addition to the fact that it's not an ePub, Amazon only pays authors for downloaded books that are actually READ.

Yes, you had to pay to getown it, but how many books do you have that you haven't read either past the first few pages or not at all? I have 100's!

This book was too much work not to get paid! It represents years of learning, practicing, and stitching, not to mention the time it took to put it all together into a cohesive form.

—When can I get the printed version here?

I don't know. I'm still looking into it.
