Tie in/Tie off (stitches)

Very small stitches that are sewn at the beginning/end of a block to tie the thread to the fabric to avoid thread pullouts. These stitches are also used before and after cutting thread or changing colors on the machine.

Embroidery Tip

  • Never use an adhesive tape on thread to manage loose thread tails. The problem with doing this is that the sticky residue can actually permeate several layers of the thread, causing thread breaks when the thread is used.
