Satin

A type of stitch comprising of only two needle penetrations alternating sides to sew a column formng closely arranged zigzag stitches. Can be laid down at any angle and with varying stitch lengths. Adapted from the blatt stitch used in schiffli embroidery. See blatt stitch and column stitch.

Embroidery Tip

  • Never use an adhesive tape on thread to manage loose thread tails. The problem with doing this is that the sticky residue can actually permeate several layers of the thread, causing thread breaks when the thread is used.
