3D Foam

A material used between the stitches and the fabric, which gives a three dimensional effect to the embroidery. Often called Puffy Foam, this term is actually a trademarked name for 3D foam.

For best results, use a design that has been specifically digitized for foam and use it on a fabric that will not require frequent laundering. Foam will melt with heat and dissolve with dry cleaning solvents.

Embroidery Tip

  • Water soluble toppings will not reduce jaggy stitch edges on heavy, coarse weaves like canvas because the dense, thick fibers in the weave are deflecting the needle to one side or the other causing a stair-step look.
